Orchid Project has a vision of a world free from female genital cutting (FGC). We are a small but growing, dynamic charity with a proven track record of delivering programmes, advocacy and communications work in support of an end to FGC. Every year 3.9m girls are cut. It is a human rights violation and we have an urgent agenda to keep our promise to girls and women to end this practice by 2030.
Location: Vauxhall, London
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000
About the role
The Senior Development Manager will use their considerable expertise and experience to raise resources to support the end of FGC. You will be influencing, engaging with existing or new donors, managing the day-to-day relationships or further developing our systems for systematic reporting. You will bring to our team knowledge, excitement and a proven track record for achieving change. You will be an excellent writer who can clearly articulate complex issues such as ending FGC to a range of audiences.
This position provides a fantastic opportunity for enabling the organisation to grow; and, more importantly, supporting the community of organisations dedicated to ending FGC to facilitate change globally. You will be part of our senior leadership team, and you will lead a successful fundraising team which seeks new and innovative partnerships, to ensure FGC is given priority, scaled and communicated.
Who we’re looking for
You will be able to forge relationships with our existing donors and be creative about building new ones with institutional investors and foundations. You will either have experience in innovative financing models or be keen to learn about this. You will be devising and delivering a new fundraising strategy to complement our new three-year organisational strategy.
This role will suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and who is able quickly to manage our existing work on fundraising from private individuals while growing our funding base to include institutional investors and philanthropic institutions. You will be expected to lead a small team to deliver these goals, collaborate closely with our CEO and other staff members as appropriate. You will be an inspirational line manager and team-player.
